Sengoku Space Opera
BackgroundAbout 15 years ago I was part of the team that developed the shogun, a browser strategy game that launched in Japan. After a few more titles I left the games industry, and I've been working as a developer in other fields ever since. Around two years ago I started using AI in my day job, and watching how fast it kept evolving made me think I could revisit the genre I once enjoyed making — with AI as my co-developer, this time as a completely new concept rather than a continuation. This project began as that experiment. I handle the director and PM roles while AI handles planning, code, art, and infrastructure. There's plenty of skepticism toward AI-developed games, but the one thing I've felt throughout this build is that a director's burden stays exactly the same, whether the team is AI or human. The weight of judgment needed to steer a project toward the vision you want doesn't change. About the Game"Tenka Tōitsu (天下統一) — unification of the realm, right in your hand, across the vast Opera Sector." You play as a daimyō (大名) summoned across dimensions, leading cybernetically-augmented Sengoku warlords (武将) from a massive Mothership anchored in deep space, competing for the throne of Shōgun (将軍). The strategic depth of 2000s-era browser strategy games — type matchups, fusion, deck-building, resource bottlenecks — is preserved intact, then layered with Sengoku-era Japan IP and a sci-fi universe. The tile map is gone, replaced by a list-based UI so a meaningful one-handed action is always within 15 seconds of opening the app. The core play: collect and grow 30 warlord cards, build them into a three-lane fleet, and expand your 8-module Mothership. RoadmapThe current build is a single-player MVP. This release exists to validate whether the core loop — economy, growth, NPC combat, reward — is actually fun. More to follow in phases:
